- Phỏt õm là /id/ nếu liền trước cỏc tổ hợp chữ cỏi này là cỏc phụ õm /t/ và /d/.
Vớ dụ: started /’sta:tid/; acted /’ổktid/; lasted/’la:stid/; listed/’listid/; painted /’peintid/;decided/di’saidid/; provided/prә’vaidid/; landed /’lổndid/; added /’ổdid/
Ngoài ra cũn cú cỏc từ bất qui tắc cụ thể gồm: sacred /’seikrid/; hatred/’heitrid/;
 crooked/’krukid/; beloved/bi’lLvid/; wicked/’wikid/; naked/’neikid/
- Phỏt õm là /t/ nếu liền trước cỏc tổ hợp chữ cỏi này là cỏc phụ õm /k, f, s, ʃ, tʃ, p/.

- Cỏc trường hợp cũn lại phỏt õm là /d/.

b. Tổ hợp cỏc chữ cỏi tận cựng “s”:
- Phỏt õm là /s/ nếu liền trước của chỳng là cỏc õm /p,k,t,f,q/.
