Alexander Graham Bell was born in 1847 in Edinbugh, Scotland. His father was an expert in phonetics, the study of sounds of languages. As a boy, Alexander became interested in sound and speech.
 	 In 1870, the Bells decided to emergrate to America. They lived in Boston, where Alexander taught in a school for the deaf-mute. He worked his assistant, Thomas Watson and invented the first telephone here.

William Shakespeare, the great poet playwright, was born on April 23, 1564 in the small town of Stratford- Upon- Avon about 70 miles from London. When he was a small boy, he went to Stratford Grammar School, where he learnt Latin and Greek. In those days Stratford- Upon- Avon was usually visited by trevelling groups of actors, so Shakespeare used to see plays performed by such actors and was deeply impressed by them. Shakespeare lived in Stratford- Upon- Avon until he was 21. Then he left for London. He married and had three children. In London he worked as an actor and a playwright. He wrote a lot of famous plays like “Hamlet”, “Prince of Denmark”, “King Lear” . In 1613 Shakespeare left London and returned to his home town. Three years later, on April 23, 1616, he died and was buried there.
